The processing time of Form N-565, Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document, can vary significantly. It may take from 6 to 12 months between sending the application and receiving the replaced document.
After submitting Form N-565 you will receive a receipt notice containing an Application Receipt number, which can be used later to track the status of your pending application. In case you are filling online, a receipt notice will be posted to your USCIS account. If you decided to file the paper version of Form N-565 and you do not have a USCIS account, one will be created automatically for you and you will get a welcome letter with instructions on how to use your USCIS account.
Afterwards, you may receive a request to appear for an interview, if applicable. And if USCIS determines that any additional information is required, they will issue a request for evidence. USCIS may request that you provide more information, evidence to support your application, or the originals of any copies that you have submitted.
When your application is finally approved, a notice of decision will be issued.
Please note that USCIS will reject Form N-565 that is not completely filled out, not signed or not accompanied by the correct fee. In case your application is denied or rejected, USCIS will notify you in writing of the reasons.
